Artisan Joy is a nonprofit magazine for readers who appreciate handmade goods, craftsmanship & creativity.

Hi, I'm Stephanie Blanchard. I'm the editor and publisher of Artisan Joy, an independent magazine about the people who make beautiful things by hand.
I started Artisan Joy in 2021 at my kitchen table in Rhode Island. I'd spent years as a freelance writer and copywriter, and I always dreamed of working at a magazine. Instead, I chose to create a publication dedicated to the people who inspired me most: artisans who built their lives around something they made with their hands.
Five years and seven print issues later, Artisan Joy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit publication that tells the stories of artists, designers and makers from across the country and around the world — with a particular focus on people whose stories don't get told often enough. We've featured more than a hundred makers. Our readers are people who love handmade goods and want to know who made them, where to find them and why their work matters.
We do this because we believe that when you know the story behind something handmade, you value it more. You give it differently. You keep it longer. And the maker on the other end gets to keep doing the work.
If that sounds like a publication you'd like in your life, I'd love to have you. Our newsletter goes out weekly. It's free, and you can unsubscribe in one click whenever you'd like.
Thanks for being here.
